What do you do in this job?

Restaurant professionals decorate tables, greet guests, provide food and beverage recommendations and take orders. In addition, they serve food and drinks, create invoices and handle cash. They often do the compilation and presentation of menus. In hotels they are also able to operate in floor services. In addition, they prepare special events such as weddings or banquets and ensure a smooth process.

Which school graduation is expected?

Legally no particular education is required. Usually, companies take  trainees with a Certificate of Secondary  Education medium-educated or better.

What is important?

Requirements:
   • Contact willingness, customer and service orientation (e.g. for the establishment of contacts with
      Customers and guests, in responding to specific needs and wishes of guests)
   • memory and computational capabilities (e.g. for picking up orders without Tools, creating the guest
      account)
   • Commercial thinking and organizational skills (e.g. when calculating the cost of festivities and events,
      for the alignment of festivities)
   • Good physical fitness (e.g. when working while standing or walking)

School subjects:

   • mathematics (e.g. for the production of accounts and cashing)
   • German (e.g. for correspondence and guest contact)
   • English (e.g. for contact with foreign guests)

   • 1st year of training: € 487 to € 589
   • 2nd year: € 564 to € 673
   • 3rd year: € 641 to € 758
