What do you do in this job?
Tourism graduates advise customers in travel agencies, work as tour guides or travel guides. They can also work as entertainers, in the leisure industry or in tourist information centers. Many graduates also work at the reception of hotels. There they care for the well-being of guests, the satisfaction with the service of the house, they do the formalities with the check-in, advise hotel guests and issue invoices. If guests have specific concerns or requests related to the room or service it is addressed by the hotel receptionist, because they are the first point of contact. Kindness, attention and discretion is important.

    • in offices
    • at the reception
    • at the counter
In addition, they work if necessary,
    • outdoors (sightseeing)
    • on a bus (tour guide)

Which graduation is expected?
For the education in the Czech Republic a primary and secondary school education is required. There are a total of 9 classes.

What is important?
Requirements:
    • flexibility (in different areas of the travel agencies and hotels, changing tasks)
    • customer orientation, sociability (e.g. responsive to the wishes and needs of constantly new guest)
    • sense of responsibility (e.g. as support for travel groups)
    • teamwork (e.g. collaborations with other staff members)

School subjects:
    • Czech, German, English (e.g. for dealing with customers)
    • economics (e.g. the understanding of legal principles and economic frameworks)
    • Marketing (e.g. communication with guests, sales)
    • geography, history (e.g. information for guests)
    • Mathematics and Accounting (e.g. for cashing, creating invoices)


Internship:
    • at the premises, which must be found by the students themselves
    • 2 weeks in 2nd year
    • 3 weeks in 3rd year of training
    • 2 weeks in 4th year

b) At the school reception and information center
    • 3rd year of training the tourism class has to take care of the reception operation. Students alternate after a week.
During the 4 years of training you earn no money.
